ITA: Sono appena tornato dall'Interbike, ed è tempo di ricapitolare. Per un europeo l'Interbike è sempre fonte di ispirazione, dato che molto spesso si vedono lì in anteprima movimenti ed idee che diventeranno di moda anche da noi, con un ritardo di uno o due anni. Eccone alcuni, oltre a cose che mi sono semplicemente piaciute:
I colori fluo ed anodizzati sono di ritorno: come visto su alcune biciclette, i colori vivaci (incluso il violetto anodizzato!), che ci piacevano tanto a metà degli anni ottanta e che aborrivamo dai primi anni novanta in poi, si ripropongono (tipo peperonata a colazione). Non diventerà penso un fenomeno di massa, ma probabilmente 'fluo e purple' piaceranno ad alcuni nostalgici della stagione d'oro della mtb ed a qualche giovane che li vede per la prima volta.
Trasmissione a cinghia dentata: questa è una grande innovazione. Alcune volte più robusta e durevole di una normale catena, oltre a non richiedere lubrificazione, la Carbon Drive della ditta Gates è indeformabile grazie all'uso della fibra di carbonio. Ottima per le single-speed, ideale per le bicicletta da città, si presta anche ad un uso fuoristrada a 360° se accoppiata con un mozzo tipo Rohloff.
Belle biciclette: come sempre, c'erano mezzi di assoluto rilievo in fiera. Se devo sceglierne due non viste all'Eurobike, direi la Guru Photon (telaio super leggero e aspetto 'stealth') e la mtb front in titanio della Spot Bikes, con Gates Carbon Drive e Rohloff (le mie foto fatte di corsa sono penose, ma se ne trovano sicuramente di meglio cercando in rete).
Caffélatex: è il prodotto che intendevo promuovere in fiera, e le reazioni sono state molto positive. La maggior parte dei negozi che l'avevano provato ne erano molto soddisfatti, chi lo vedeva per la prima volta rimaneva colpito dal suo comportamento all'interno del copertone trasparente che avevamo come demo. Ci siamo anche divertiti a fare un video dimostrativo, presto on-line (sperando che le parti poco serie vengano editate..).

EN: I'm just back from Interbike and I'd like to summarize what I saw. For a European, Interbike is always interesting. Even though it's not true all the time, some of the trends/things you see there are going to become trends in the old continent as well - with a one or two year delay. Here below some of those, plus a couple of things I simply liked:
Fluo and anodized colours are back: as seen on some bikes, the bright colours (even purple anodized!) we used to love in the mid-eighties and hate from the early nineties on are resurfacing on some models. It won't be a mass phenomenon as it was in the past, but it will probably remind someone the hey-days of mtb and attract some kids as well.
Belt transmission: this is a great innovation. A couple of times stronger and more durable than a normal chain, and requiring no lubrications, the latest incarnation of belt transmission - the Gates Carbon Drive - includes carbon fiber and is not stretchable. While it makes perfect sense for single-speed applications and you couldn't ask for more on a city bike, it's also very interesting for internal gear hub like the Rohloff.
Cool bikes: there were some beautiful bikes on the show, as usual. If I had to pick just two, I'd say the Guru Photon (über-light and stealth-looking) and the Spot titanium hardtail with Rohloff and Gates Carbon Drive (although my pictures 'on the go' don't do justice to them, you can surely find some more decent browsing around).
Caffélatex: this is the product I wanted to promote at the show, and the reactions were incredibly positive. Most of the shops who already tried the product were telling us how great it was, those who didn't know about it were intrigued by seeing its behaviour inside our transparent, demo wheel. We had some real fun shooting a product presentation and 'foaming effect' video, on line soon (hopefully they will cut the not-serious footage sections...).
